What's Happening?

Monthly Craft Night and "Free Market"

February Craft Night:  This month's craft night will be hosted by Kate!  She has saved a lot of baby food jars and formula cans, and we have a few options of what to create with them.

Date:  Tuesday, February 17, 8:00 p.m.
Place:  Kate Homer's Home (email Kate for address:  siebzkate@yahoo.com)

For the jars, two ideas are glass jar frames:

and picture magnets from the lids:

For both of these projects you mainly just need the pictures.  Kate will have the other supplies. If you cannot get pictures in time for craft night, you can use scrapbook paper, or just take some jars with you and add the pictures later.  Also, there are a lot of fun ideas for baby food jars on Pinterest, so feel free to use another idea for them as well.

For the formula cans, there is this idea:
Flower cans!! All you need is a soup can, rope, and hot glue. Then put whatever big flower you want inside!

There may be a minimal cost for the rope.

Craft
We will be doing two simple Valentines crafts.  Pick one, or do both.  The first is floating hearts, found here.

Basically it is just colored hearts taped to fishing line and hung from the ceiling, but I think it would look pretty cute over a dining table, behind/around your TV, etc.  I will have a heart template, and if anyone has a large heart punch (at least 2 inches) please let me know and/or bring it.  I will have the fishing line and tape, and some construction paper. So unless you have a heart punch or specific paper or card stock you want to use, you do not need to bring anything for this project.
The second craft is this lipstick heart, found here.

So simple.  Just trace a heart onto your paper, and use the lipstick to fill it in however you want. I will provide 8x10 drawing paper, a template and some lipstick.  You will need to provide your own frame, and if you have lipstick you no longer need/want, please bring it.

One Last kind-of Craft
I ran across this adorable Love Coupon Book on the same blog as the lipstick heart craft and I can't help but share.
Love Coupon Book
Here is the link to the blog post, scroll down to where it says "Free Download," and the first sentence under that heading contains the link to the free printable coupon book.  If you want to print it out and bring it to craft night, I will have everything you need to cut and assemble the booklet, including many colors of ribbon.

Free Market
This is the term that I am using to describe an event where you bring everything you want to get rid of (that is still in decent shape), and then you can look through what others have brought and take whatever you want. I will have a designated area to put everything, and then you can feel free to browse the items any time during craft night.  You will need to take any leftover items that you brought with you when you leave.  This way we can easily share with each other before getting rid of those things we no longer need.  Sounds fun, right??  If you want to participate in the Free Market but are not interested in crafting, or vice versa, no problem at all, please come.

Hope to see you then!
